Harvey L. Williams Jr.
Vice President, Second Helpings Hawaii
Mr. Williams proudly served in two U. S. military service branches. He initially enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from high school where he completed a short tour at the Marine Barracks in Washington D. C.. After leaving the Marine Corps, he attended Howard University as a U.S. Air Force ROTC cadet. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force where he served as a Flight Officer and Mission Commander onboard the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), amassing nearly 3000 flight hours supporting global operations.
After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Williams worked as a systems engineer for Northrop Grumman and eventually a liaison officer with the Department of Defense.
Throughout his career, he has always dedicated himself to the his local community working tirelessly for those youth at risk. His greatest accomplishments while serving was mentoring youth in life skills, academic improvement, and spiritual growth. He serves as a Youth Leader at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church, where he is also a lector, choir musician, and youth/ young adult mentor.
As a father of three daughters, he was drawn to help the women transitioning from the Women’s Community Correctional Center. His experience and background will contribute to the planning and execution of self-improvement programs, forming Hawai’i state and private partnerships, and seeking stable job opportunities for women and families in need.
Harvey currently serves as Vice President of Second Helpings Hawaii.
